I wanted to try a beach scene on a darker, gloomier day, as I am usually attracted to light. I wanted to explore some of the subtleties that occur in a more even light, particularly all of the different greens that can be found in the foliage. I liked the cave-like closeness of the overhaed pandanus in contrast to the openness of the beach beyond in this composition.
